What is a Mirrorless Camera?

  • March 5, 2019

Mirrorless Cameras are Digital Cameras that offer the picture quality and flexibility of professional Digital Single-Lens Reflex cameras (DSLRs) , together with a portability closer to that of a more common “point and shoot” digital camera. They are also known as Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Digital Cameras due to the fact that, unlike the common Digital Cameras for consumer market, they offer a mechanism to change lenses easily, as it’s done with professional ones.

The new Micro Four Thirds system, derived from the original Four Third System adopted by professional DSLR cameras, has been designed by Olympus and Panasonic, and it’s one of the standards created especially for best mirrorless cameras under $1000 reviews here. Since it shares many of the specifications of the original standard, the SLR Four Third lenses can be used on these new cameras through an adapter. Other manufacturers, like Nikon, Minolta, Pentax, FujiFilm, etc., use similar approaches, although based on a different design.
